Ingredients
  

Pasta and Meat
  • 12 noodles lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
Cheese Mixture
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
Sauce and Seasoning
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • Fresh basil for garnish Optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; then drain.
Cooking the Meat Sauce
  1. In a large pan, cook ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Assembling the Lasagna
  1. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, followed by a layer of noodles, and then a layer of the ricotta mixture.
  3. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat layers, finishing with the remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for about 3 months. Reheat covered with foil to prevent drying out. For added flavor, consider using fresh minced garlic.
