  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the broken lasagna noodles, marinara sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.
  5. Dollop the ricotta cheese over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cover again and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet for the best texture.
