- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until onions are translucent.
- Stir in the broken lasagna noodles, marinara sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.
- Dollop the ricotta cheese over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Cover again and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.
Notes
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet for the best texture.
