Pickling Ingredients
  • 1 pound Fresh green beans Look for vibrant, fresh beans.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Sliced or whole, depending on preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes Adjust to taste for spice level.
  • 1 cup Vinegar White or apple cider vinegar works well.
  • 1 cup Water Just good old H2O.
  • 2 tablespoons Salt Adds essential flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Balances flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the fresh green beans and trim the ends.
  2. In a pot, combine vinegar, water, salt, and sugar and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes to the mixture.
  4. Place the green beans in a jar and pour the hot liquid over them, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  5. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

Once pickled, they can last for about 2-3 weeks in the fridge. Ensure they are always submerged in the brine. You can experiment by adding dill, mustard seeds, or even other veggies.
