Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
Assembly
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce.
- Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread with 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella.
- Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Try swapping some mozzarella for provolone for a fun twist! You can add spinach or zucchini for added nutrition. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
