Ingredients
  

Meat and Sauce Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Lasagna Components
  • 12 oz no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
Assembly
  1. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce.
  2. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  3. Spread with 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella.
  4. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce.
  5. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Try swapping some mozzarella for provolone for a fun twist! You can add spinach or zucchini for added nutrition. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
