Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 16 ounces ground beef (85/15)
  • 16 ounces Italian sausage (ground)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated finely)
For the Sauce
  • 14 ounces pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the meatballs together until well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
Cooking
  1. Heat a little oil in a pan on high heat. Sear each meatball on one or two sides, ensuring not to crowd the pan.
  2. Once seared, remove the meatballs from the pan and lower the heat to medium.
  3. Add in the tomato paste and cook for about 10 seconds before pouring in the pizza sauce.
  4. Combine the sauces and return the meatballs to the pan. Turn off the heat.
  5. Top the meatballs with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven (uncovered) for 20 minutes or until the cheese turns golden brown.

Notes

Don't skip the searing step; it adds delicious depth of flavor. Serve hot with extra sauce and garnished with herbs. Leftovers can be stored for up to 4 days in the fridge or frozen.
