Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1.3 pounds fresh green beans (trimmed)
  • 6 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)

Method

Sautéing Beans
  1. Pour the olive oil into a large saucepan set over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the beans and cook until partially cooked through and slightly charred on the outside, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Using a slotted spoon, remove the beans from the pan, leaving most of the oil behind.
Cooking Garlic
  1. Add the garlic to the oil and sauté over medium-low heat until the garlic is fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, add the water, and let it simmer for 8 minutes, or until the water evaporates and the garlic turns soft and sweet.
Finish Up
  1. Toss the beans back into the pan, season with salt and pepper to taste, and mix until well combined.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy your garlicky creation!

Notes

Don’t skip toasting the garlic — it makes all the difference! Use butter instead of olive oil for a richer flavor, or add a splash of soy sauce for an Asian twist.
