Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef Can swap with ground turkey or plant-based ground meat.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Essential for moisture.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds flavor.
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the mixture.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
Sauce and Garnish
  • 1 large onion, sliced Placed at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • 2 cups French onion soup Can substitute with beef broth and caramelized onions.
  • Chopped parsley for garnish Chopped parsley Optional for serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and form into meatballs.
  2. Place sliced onions at the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Layer the meatballs on top of the onions.
  4. Pour French onion soup over the meatballs.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  2. Once done, garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in chopped garlic or herbs. Allow meatballs to cool before storing to maintain their shape.
