Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (out of the casing)
  • 1 sweet onion (diced)
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 28 oz tomato sauce
  • 28 oz crushed tomato
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp herbs de Provence
  • 2 tbsp Bayou City Garlic Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Bayou City All Purpose Seasoning
  • 4 leaves fresh basil (chiffonade)
For the Cheese Mixture
  • 32 oz ricotta
  • 24 oz mozzarella (shredded)
  • 1 cup Parmesan (grated)
  • 8 oz goat cheese
  • 1/2 cup parsley (chopped)
For Assembling
  • 1 box lasagna sheets (16 oz) No-boil or regular sheets
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare the meat sauce: Brown the ground beef and sausage in a pan, add the sweet onion and garlic, and mix in all the tomato products and seasonings. Simmer until thick.
  3. Spread the ricotta mixture (add some herbs for flavor) across the bottom of your baking dish.
Layering
  1. Layer the lasagna sheets and alternate with the meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, and goat cheese until all ingredients are used up.
  2. Finish with a sprinkle of Parmesan and mozzarella on top.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden. Enjoy!

Notes

Don’t skip toasting the garlic for extra flavor! Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing; it’ll hold its shape better.
