Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat a splash of olive oil and sauté chopped onion and garlic until they are translucent.
- Add ground beef, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs, and cook until it’s beautifully browned.
- Stir in tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese with some extra salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
Assembly
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, then alternate layers with noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
- Continue layering until you run out of ingredients, finishing with mozzarella on top.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to add chopped spinach or zucchini between layers for extra nutrients. Letting lasagna rest helps the layers to set, making each slice perfect.
