Ingredients
  

For the cookies
  • 2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (packed light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 2 Large eggs (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup Oreo pieces
  • 1/2 cup Oreo crumbs (plus extra for topping)
For the frosting
  • 1 1/4 cups Unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 3/4 cups Powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • to taste Oreo crumbs (for decoration)
  • as needed Gummy worms (for that extra fun touch!)

Method
 

Making the Chocolate Oreo Cookies
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the melted butter with brown and white sugars until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the Oreo pieces and crumbs.
  5. Drop spoonfuls onto a lined baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool!
Making the Chocolate Frosting
  1. In a large bowl, beat the room-temperature butter until creamy.
  2. Slowly add sifted powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.
  3. Add vanilla and salt, and beat until fluffy. Spread on cooled cookies!

Notes

Keep these delicious cookies fresh by storing them in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to 3 months. Room temperature eggs help create a fluffier cookie—do not skip this step! If the dough gets too warm, chill it for 30 minutes to aid shaping.
