Ingredients
  

For the cookies
  • 1.5 cups mashed ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Lightly toast for extra texture.
For the cream cheese glaze
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and mashed bananas.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in nuts, if using.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
Glazing
  1. For the glaze, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Once cookies have cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.

Notes

These cookies are best served fresh out of the oven, but can also be enjoyed the next day. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze sans glaze for up to a month.
