For the White Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk (preferably warm)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (optional) for extra richness
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Lasagna Assembly
  • Lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded plus additional for topping
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the flour and stir for about 1 minute until it's light and golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in the warm milk, ensuring there are no lumps.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the white sauce on the bottom.
  2. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of shredded chicken, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and more white sauce.
  3. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used up, finishing with noodles and plenty of white sauce on top.
  4. Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Make it ahead by assembling the lasagna a day in advance. You can also use different cheeses if you prefer. For added nutrition, consider adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
