  • 1.5 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed (or thawed frozen green beans) Fresh green beans are recommended for the best flavor.
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped Use thick-cut bacon for a better texture.
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Freshly minced garlic enhances the flavor.
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional) Add for a spicy kick if desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and trim green beans; pat dry if using frozen.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  3. Leave about 1–2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the pan. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Toss in the green beans and sauté for 6–8 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  2. Add butter, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Stir until everything melts into a glaze that coats the beans.
  3. Return bacon to the skillet, toss everything together, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
Serving
  1. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat by tossing in a pan to prevent overcooking.
