Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and maple syrup until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter and maple syrup mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between cookies.
- Sprinkle the tops with sugar.
Baking
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges turn golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container for up to a week. For extra freshness, refrigerate for up to two weeks. Experiment with spices and add nuts or dried fruit for variation.
